MIKE BRUYERE
DRUMMER / STUDIO MUSICIAN / PRODUCERI grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I first learned how to play drums when I was five, making a drum kit out of plastic containers and pots n' pans. It wasn't until age thirteen that I received my first, shall I say, real drum kit, from my father. They were a mix of Ludwig Rockers and a Rogers kit in which I joined together to make one mass kit.
I never took any drum lessons when I was young, but my music teachers in secondary school believed in me, and spent hours of their free time to teach me music theory, rudiments, sight reading and drum tuning. I also sought out other drummers to ask for advice. This was the beginning of my writing ability and taking on the task of learning other instruments such as Bass, Guitar, Keyboards and Vocal Training.
After leaving high school in 1987, I played in an original rock group called Childs Play while drumming for different local club bands like Shake Naked, Lenita Erikson and blues god Billy Joe Green, up until 1988. I've collaborated with bands such as, The Derelicts, Eagle & Hawk, Keith Secola And The Wild Band Of Indians USA. Errol Ranville and C-Weed 2000, Killah Green, Bruthers Of Different Muthers, Tall, Dark & Hammered, X-Status and since 2009 I've been on a world tour with Buffy Sainte-Marie, in support of her latest C.D "Running For The Drum".
I have had the opportunity to experience and master many different styles of music working with one of Canada's well respected artists, to showcase and perform on the world stage.
I have wrote, recorded, produced and toured the world with numerous artists as well as a being Nominated in 2000 at the Juno Awards.
March 1st, 2011 I will have the opportunity to write and record with Buffy in her home studio, working along side London Based music producer Chris Birkett.
